Diablo 3 - Blizzard

Blizzard announced Diablo 3 today, at the Worldwide Invitational. They had a demo of the game, but do not yet have a version available even for Alpha testers.

With the Wrath of the Lich King so close to release, many were taken by surprise at this announcement. Gamer fans were sure that Blizzard was focusing on WotLK to the exclusion of other products.

Yet they will be pleased. The Diablo franchise was the bread and butter for Blizzard prior to World of Warcraft. In fact, Diablo 2 still holds the world record for fastest selling software: 1 million copies in 2 weeks. It's a well-loved game series, and even the World of Warcraft forums are abuzz with talk of the 'other' game.

It will basically be more of the same: 3rd person isometric view hack and slash. Selectable classes including a Witch-doctor with pet. (Warlock anyone? Geez those guys at Blizzard love their Warlock class! But I digress...) New types of quests and a more destructable environment.

Oh...and Deckard Cain is back. :) (Stay a while, and listen!)

No word yet on release date.

But many fans are very excited to hear from Blizzard that Diablo 3 is coming!
